Comfort Foods in Space

I think making comfort foods in zero gravity will be a problem. First, a deep fat fryer, even if it had some type of airlock system, would drive every safety engineer insane. It would be a huge risk for burning liquids floating around. Second, baking things like bread and cake might not turn out as well. They probably won’t be as fluffy if heat causes the bubbles in bread or the cake to raise.

This isn’t a huge problem, but it will affect how we choose the people who will go into space. This is a problem because not having these types of comfort foods, which are hard to make in space, might annoy the emotional eater. This might give a space inhabitant a higher stress load then the already high stress load from being in space.

Reactions

-Is it better just to train all space inhabitant in coping methods?

In Case You Skimmed

-Emotional eaters might now make it into space.
