I have been pondering this question, but I'm having trouble finding an answer: what type of education system should the spacefaring society have? On one hand, we need more science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education to become spacefaring. But, on the other hand, I've seen my high school produce some of the most miserable and lifeless people I've even met.
Schools, I think, can and should be harder. I participated in the W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Institute, one of the most intense academic summer camps in the world. The workload was huge, and me and my classmate all learn a lot, not only about the material, but about ourselves. But, my high school had less intense work, yet the students are passionless.
When comparing my high school experience and my experience in the W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Institute, I think my experience in the W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Institute was rare. I want to conclude that the spacefaring society have the most intense schools possible, because the intense summer in the DuBois program made me into who I am, but I can't do that. I worry that an intense curriculum might produce the most miserable people in the world.
So, I this question for my readers: what type of education system should the spacefaring society have?
